Sew Chic Pattern Giveaway? YES!

Share Your Sew Chic Makes with Us!
Maybe you've been coveting Ginseng or itching to get your hands on Southern Belle. How about picking your favorite Sew Chic pattern and having it delivered to your mailbox? Free.

If that sounds good, read on.

I share with you my second takes and pattern variations, but I'm not the only one with good ideas. I am inspired by what others are creating too. Many of you do write to me and share photos, but I know there are more out there than I know about. We all want to see: what have done with your Sew Chic designs? How did you make it yours? Some indie designers give patterns away prior to publicity and reviews, so why not do that for everyone? If you've had a good experience, you'll naturally want to tell others. Right?

My friend Monica wearing Tia.
This is how it works: Make up your pattern, then make your experience available to the public between now and December 31, 2015. This means post the process or your finished piece on Facebook or your blog. Maybe you prefer Pinterest or Instagram. Whatever gets it out there works!

Give me permission to share your experiences (along with where to find them), let me know which Sew Chic pattern you want, and it's yours.

I am super excited to see what you have all done! And don't forget that I have lots of posts for resizing and how to make many other adjustments. Remember my Fantasia Dress Variation?

This giveaway lasts only through the end of this year, but as soon as you send me your links, your pattern preference, and mailing address, we will send out your new pattern to thank you for your effort. Only one offer per address please.

Thanks for supporting Vintage!

Happy Sewing and SHARING!,
Laura

Craftsy Class Giveaway

Recently, I received photos and other graphics from the Craftsy class I taped in August.

Seeing these photos for the first time was pretty exciting and reminded me all over again why I accepted their request to teach this class. This new age of internet has made learning so accessible and affordable for everyone, no matter their station in life, and I am pleased that I can be a part of it.
We now call it information overload, but when I was learning to sew, this kind of specialized information was hard to get, if not from family or friends. Where would someone go to find someone willing to “show” us how?  As a teenager, I knew of a Russian woman in town that was a clothing designer and I wondered if she had something she could teach me? I was shy and insecure, and didn’t know the questions to ask. I only knew I wanted to learn.

I hope that anyone would be able to ask me. I invite you to ask me. Perhaps you don't know the questions either. This can make a project class (like those offered at Craftsy) so perfect. We learn by practice and doing. Even if you have been sewing for a long time, discovering a different way of "doing" is also of value. Remember that there are many roads that lead to Rome.

The Craftsy class is not quite ready for purchase, but while we wait, I’m happy to announce a class giveaway. Between now and Oct 8, 2013, please sign up to be entered into a giveaway for my class “Sewing Vintage: The Flirty Day Dress” through this link:

The winner will be announced on the first day of class, so stay tuned for that date! If you win, the class will be yours from day one.

So, until you see these banners everywhere........enter the giveaway, and Good Luck!

Sewing Apron Giveaway!

Back in the day when I used to design costumes for theater, I worked with Claudia Echols of Not the Norm. She sewed some of the more difficult designs for me, so I came to trust her work and knew that the project would come back perfect - and in theater, that's a rarity! Recently I called her up to find out what she was up to these days. Turns out she is now selling kits and manufacturing sewing aprons, and she brought me one!

This apron sells for $65 on her website: http://www.notthenorm.biz/#!store
and looks to be very practical and sturdy. The top pocket flap has built in space for straight pins and sewing needles:

Open the magnetized flap to reveal more pockets and slots for your sewing tools:

All the bigger things like scissors will easily fit in the lower pockets.

Wouldn't you like to have one of these to carry around all of your sewing tools! September is national Sewing Month, so it seems a good time to give this apron away to one lucky winner on Labor Day, Sept. 3rd. If this fabulous apron is something you will make good use of, all you need do is make a convincing comment below. PLEASE make sure I can contact you by email, and that it's an email you actually use. Sorry, but because of the high cost of shipping, this giveaway is open to US residents only.

UPDATE: Sept 5, 2012: Thank you to everyone that entered this giveaway. Congratulations to our winner, Kristie!

Don't get Nostalgic yet...Here's a Pattern Giveaway

Yesterday the Nostalgic website went to the webworld trash barrel.

The last bit of business to finish up is to find a home for the last few patterns with the Nostalgic name, and I've decided to do a pattern giveaway. I have 5 sets of the Myrtlewood pattern left, as shown to the right.

All you have to do to enter is become a facebook fan or a blog follower through Google Friend Connect. The contest ends at midnight, January 1, 2010.

From this list, five lucky winners will get this pattern completely free. I'll pay shipping, even internationally. I'll notify you of your winnings and need to ask you for an address of course. You could have a new dress for the new year!
